Gallery # 8

Thursday, March 27: Trenching on the field for drainage pipes and electrical conduit is in earnest.

Notice the different kind of pipe. Presumably, the smaller pipe is for electrical conduit.

A trench in the middle of the field.

A trench along the South end of the track. The workers in the middle of the photo give a sense of how deep the trenches are.

Note some rebar and tree roots in this trench. Note also the gravel in the bottom.

These pipes will run along the periphery of the field.

Some of the trenches merge.

A broken pipe needs to be replaced.

One or more trenches come right up to the new building.

This photo gives a sense of just how much dirt was taken away.

The basketball courts are still criss-crossed with trenches, but things look a bit more in order.

The metal plate allows vehicles and machinery to cross the trenches. Notice how the trenches are almost filled in. They await a dose of pavement.

This trench is not yet filled in. Note the pipe at the bottom.

This photo, using a flash, shows the bottom of the trench a bit better than the previous photo.

This surveyor's tool ensures a flat playing surface (and trenches just deep enough but not too deep).

There are piles of dirt that will be put back into the trenches once the pipes and conduit are installed.

A worker puts a fresh coat of tar before the pavement is re-installed.

The trenches come right up to the hill just before the Senior Building.

Meanwhile, out on the street, work continues.

Soon, this dirt will be replaced.

A worker scrapes up caked-in dirt.

Another view of the broken pipe.
