Gallery # 10 - April 3-4, 2008

This pretty much sums up much of the work this week: Trenches were dug, filled with pipes and conduit, and then backfilled.

April 3, 2008: This week, the work focused on putting in pipe and conduit along the outside of the field. Curbs were also put along the side nearest the Annex.

One of the foremen monitors the work to make sure what's in the drawings (foreground) are what's put in.

A close look at the drawings.

Stands, earthmoving equipment, port-a-potties, and supplies are put on the inside of the field, because trenching and pipe installation are happing along its edges.

Cloudy days make for a comfortable work environment.

A view of the project from the patio south of the Gym. Note the piles of dirt are significantly reduced from weeks past.

Work is proceeding in earnest.

Note how close to St. Bridget's the trenching work is being done.

With pipes in place, this trench is being backfilled.

As students leave their Period 1 classes (above), dirt is being hauled around the field.

This trench is being backfilled. Note the tape along the middle of the trench.

Meanwhile, a new trench is being dug very near one of the new curbs.

Note that the eucalyptus trees and foliage above the Annex parking lot is gone.

More curbs are being formed.

This warning tape should warn anyone digging around.

The field is wet from a rain the night before.

Where the football coach's temporary office trailer once stood, the ground is broken up, being readied for more leveling and trenching.

This prefabricated form will keep a pipe safe.

Another view of the new curb being put in place.

This pre-fabricated piece will be installed somewhere, soon.

CHS workers are cleaning out some foliage near where the Annex, the field, and the Casa Italiana meet.

A pipe snakes from underground to the surface.

A worker adds pipe in a trench.

More trench is being dug.

A curb nearest the dog house behind St. Peter's.

These pipes are duct-taped in order to keep dirt out.

These two perpendicular pipes suggest a freeway interchange.

Here is a temporary water spigot at the edge of the field.

Meanwhile, at the West end of the field, a lot of gravel has been filled to cover the drainage pipes.

The ground will go up to the top of the tarred part of the fence.

Behind the new retaining wall, the concrete angles down to the old retaining wall, so that water will
go down to the Southwest corner of the property...

... where there is a drain.

More dirt will fill in the trench completely, so it should be nearly level with the ground at the left of the photo.

A view of the trenching done near the fence just under the fire lane between the Senior Building and the Gym.

These pipes should not leak, with all of the work being done on them!
