Gallery # 11 - April 9-10, 2008

April 9, 2008: A panoramic view of the field from the bleachers just outside of the Science Wing. Notice the trenches and new pipes are not in the periphery of the field, but more towards the middle.

Workers install a special barrier material in a trench before pipes.

This picture gives a perspective of the laying of the barrier material from one angle...

... and from another.

While all of this work goes on in the field, school is also running.

More barrier material is laid.

More earth is moved to make room for pipes...

... and earth in turn covers up a trench.

There is still some concrete and brick rubble in the background.

A worker sprays a trickle of water in order that the earth is compacted properly.

This area is an important juncture of pipes.

A close-up view of the barrier material.

Note how far from the periphery of the field (and how close to the middle) this trench is.

Another close-up of a trench, but with pipes installed.

Note how far down this trench goes.

Wisps of cloud is dissipating fog. Soon, there will be hot days.

Notice the line of compacted earth to the right of the trench in the middle of this photo.

Much earth is still being moved.
A foreman keeps checking his drawings to ensure an accurate installation.

Meanwhile, the great trench at the far West end of the field, near the retaining wall, is now completely filled.

The earth must be accurately compacted to ensure a stable field surface.

This pipe is temporarily covered with plastic until the trench is filled.

The ground has to be level for the next stage.

Pipes lie next to the trenches waiting to be installed.

April 10, 2008: The trench in pictures taken yesterday has been filled.

Forms for a concrete curb soon to be installed are being set up.

There are still mounds of earth on the field.

Note how far above the surface of the asphalt surface of the ground outside of the Senior Building is to where the worker is putting in a form.

A view of the work from behind a fence.
